pre-event planning and preparation, event activities and supervision, and
post-event reports. Also discusses serving as a non-CIC chirurgeon.

How to Plan/Work with Page's Academy Activities - Lady Livia Zanna
This class is highly encouraged for all autocrats and seneschals.
Intro to Period Raqs ("Bellydance") (2 hours) Master Asim
This is a class for those who want to learn period-esqe movements, as well
as how to start with a period dancer persona! We'll cover the limited extant
information on how the dance might have been performed in period, including
the differences time wrought in the dance.
You'll also get information on the two most documentable persona types for
dancers! Detailed handouts, including bibliography, will be provided.
Attendees are strongly encouraged to take the Basic Ottoman Garb and Persona
class as a supplement to this coursework.

This is an overview of materials, sources, and vocabulary for the beginning
scribe, who would like a point to start.

Hand Sewing Garb - Lady Griele Vanden Berghr
Description: Class will start off with a brief discussion of the
different types of stitches used for hand sewing. This includes running stitch,
backstitch, buttonhole stitch and whipstitch.
During the class we will discuss the hand sewing techniques from the 14th
century and the 16th century including 16th century lining
techniques. We will also cover buttonholes, eyelets and several types of hemming
options. Materials will be provided to practice some of the techniques.

This class will cover the basic steps necessary to building a dozen SCA
legal Arrow shafts. We will cover steps such as choosing the right shafts,
finishing the shafts, fletching, adding knocks and tips. A hand out will be
provided for home use and will also provide information on purchasing
materials from reputable suppliers.

Sometimes an "A" Is Just an "A"; Analyzing Your Scripts
- Lady Sunneva de Cleia / Jennifer Townes
Participants will learn the basics of analyzing historical calligraphic
hands. This class is based partly on Patricia Lovett's essay "Analyzing the
Scripts" in The Historical Source Book for Scribes (University of Toronto
Press, 1999), and partly on techniques created by the instructor. It include
time for a discussion on the philosophy of SCA scribes creating their own
ductuses. This class is designed for the intermediate to advanced scribe,
but all are welcome.
Retaining 101 - Baroness Adrianna la Bretonne
Class Description: An introduction to being a royal retainer for those
currently serving as a retainer, may possibly be a retainer in the future,
or wonder what the people standing behind the big chairs are doing. We will
discuss the responsibilities, etiquette, and expectations as well as the
benefits of serving your royals or baronage in this position.

This class explores the methods of selecting, preparing, and curing
feathers in preparation to cutting a quill. It includes instructions on how
to make quill-making tools and a demonstration of preparing and curing a
feather. This class will NOT include a live demonstration of cutting a quill
tip. However, it will include a picture tutorial on the proper way to cut a
quill. Participants will leave with a handout on the proper way to cut a
quill, complete with safety instructions. This class is designed for the
intermediate scribe, but all are welcome.

Class Description: This class is for all royal liaisons, autocrats, members
of the retinue, head retainers, Baronage, and others wondering how to handle
a visit from TRM, TRH, or other landed Baronage at your local event. What is
the etiquette of inviting and then hosting royals? What might be requested
from your group? What information should you ask for? How can you make such
a visit special for your group and the visiting royals?
